Archive

Every year since 1998, Seasoned Cooking has posted over a hundred articles each year. Do the math and you're looking at thousands of articles chock full of all manner of recipes, tips, and ingredient & kitchen tool focuses that help you in your culinary adventures and beyond. And while it's all searchable and there's even a clever multi-select tool to help you find the perfect recipe for your needs, sometimes we all just want to take a stroll down memory lane.

That's where this Archive comes in. Just click on any year and drill down by clicking on any month within that year. Before you know it, you'll be seeing that July 1999 had us taking a tour of Chinese cuisine and March 2013 treated us to sliders with an Irish twist! So if a little wander through the site is just your speed, we have a whole lot of paths for you to take on your journey. Enjoy!

Simple Soup

With all kinds of delightful, yet fussy food finding its way in front of us during the holidays, there's something lovely about a bowl of smooth, satisfying soup. This version features the flavors of Thailand blended with butternut squash and creamy coconut milk.

Quick Comfort

In the lull between Christmas and New Year's, I like to make amazing comfort food inspired by the wideness and wonder of the world. So on a cold winter's night, it only seems fitting to make a chicken mole chili in the pressure cooker.

On Christmas Eve Eve, it seems like the perfect time to share a festive drink ingredient that was borne of the kind of leftovers that usually get tossed and a desire to make something a little magical for the holidays.

ERROR: Tried to inline nonexistent node

Drinking vinegars, also known as shrubs, have experienced a recent rise in popularity but it's hardly the first time. Colonial times saw them everywhere from tea rooms to saloons. Make sure they make an appearance in your home with this festive, simple option.

Skill It

Sometimes dinner involves blending what you have into a meal that checks all the boxes and leaves you wondering why you didn't make it sooner. This is especially true when it has you thinking outside the box and using what you have on hand to make a great meal.

Weeknight Shorts: All Alone

Ever had just one boneless, skinless chicken breast? Before you decide to make a sandwich (although that would be tasty), consider making a meal to feed the whole family. Just add pasta and veggies and you're mostly there.

Any Way You Slice It

Post-Thanksgiving turkey can be both a blessing and a curse. Leftovers can make meals quick and easy, but turkey sandwiches can quickly become mundane. Mix things up by combining your favorite holiday bird with a host of other great flavors and press them together in a panini.

Pot Pie Pan

Sometimes, life affords you both the time and the desire to make, roll out, and bake pastry for the ultimate in comfort food: pot pie. Other times, it's entirely worth it to take a short cut and enjoy your favorite comfort food flavors in under an hour.

'Tis the season for ending special meals with a touch of class. Whether you are looking for desserts for Thanksgiving or holidays forthcoming at the end (and beginning!) of the year, it's hard to argue with a decadent dark chocolate tart that has a ribbon of almond flavor running through all of its parts.

Bake It In

Infusing already amazing baked chicken is easy when you add a flavorful sauce halfway through the cooking process. The version presented this time around is a spicy-sweet option, but once you get the technique down, you can make it your own.

Beyond Greens

Salads can be amazing. They tend to be healthy, feature fresh produce, and come together fairly easily. That said, if your salad consists of iceberg lettuce and a tomato or two, it's time to start thinking outside the box and beyond greens.

Spicy Rice

One of the things I love most about Thai cuisine is its wonderful ability to blend flavors. This time around, we take a cue from Thailand and blend sweetness and spice in a fried rice dish chock full of fresh vegetables, tender rice, and even tangy pineapple.

Baking Without Eggs and Dairy

I don't do it often, but sometimes I'm either out of eggs or have just one or two I'm saving for something else and I will bake without eggs. After all, you don't need to have eggs (or even dairy) on hand, but a day without chocolate cake is just a little cloudier than it needs to be!

Fusion Tacos

When it comes to making tacos, think beyond Mexican fillings. When you have sweet and spicy Asian-inspired pork on hand, tacos can become a blend of cultures. Add pickled cabbage or kimchi and thinly sliced radishes, and they are lovely too!
