In Wisconsin, strawberries are at the height of their season in June. My family will enjoy them fresh off the bushes, sliced in salads, topping a perfect pie, and just about anywhere else they find themselves. However freshly-picked berries are best on their own or, if you're lucky, with a rich, chocolatey side kick:
Imagine swirling a bit of light, creamy chocolate mousse onto a fresh berry and then indulging. Now, imagine putting together this simple dip in about five minutes … yep, that's all it takes. It also only requires three ingredients. No, it's not strictly traditional chocolate mousse, but your taste buds aren't going to nitpick when you get to enjoy the season's finest berries with a creamy chocolate dip.
You can make this dip in advance and it will keep well if you store it tightly covered in the back of your refrigerator. Be warned, though, it's easy to eat with a spoon and if your beloved family knows it's there, a midnight snack attack could mean you're making more later. Fortunately, that's only five minutes away!
