Valentine's Day becomes a holiday focused mostly around the youngster in my home. Sure, my beloved and I might wish one another a Happy Valentine's Day and end our evening with a little port and chocolate, but it's hardly a special event for us. However, the youngster has a party at school to enjoy and wants to plan surprises and sweetness. It's really adorable. So we got Grandma involved this year and butterfly lollipop valentines got sent to school, along with a giant batch of the Strawberry Chocolate Chip Cookies I wrote about last week for a fun party involving about twenty five and six year-olds. Their teacher deserves a medal of honor!
We also spent a bit of time last night talking about Valentine's Day and what it celebrates. At one point, I said it's about love and asked her what she loves. She paused, thought about it, and said, "Pizza. And you." That's my girl! Of course, it didn't hurt that there were two wonderful homemade pizzas baking in the oven at the time.
I hope Valentine's Day brings you time to spend with those you love doing things you love. Happy Valentine's Day!
