How to Make Tasty Dips for a Fiesta Party
Everyone loves a party and one of the best things about a party is the food. No matter what else you do, the food is almost always the thing guests long remember. So make your parties the ones talked about by your family and friends and the one where everyone asks for recipes! The following recipes are great for any party but are especially suited to Fiesta, Tex-Mex, or Western Themed parties.
Westward Ho Guacamole is great with a variety of chips or with tortillas that have been baked and cut into wedges. It is also perfect for serving as a salad or side with a platter of Tex-Mex food. The chili powder will make yours stand out in a crowd! Guacamole should always be made fresh right before the party. The Layered Taco Flavored Bean Dip, however, is a great make-ahead dip that needs to be chilled before serving. Fiesta Artichoke Dip adds a cream cheese dip to the mix.
- 1 cup mashed ripe avocado
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
In a small bowl combine the avocado, lemon juice, salt, and chili powder. Stir in the mayonnaise until blended. Serve with corn or tortilla chips.

- 1 envelope (1 1/4-oz) taco seasoning mix
- 6 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup low-fat sour cream
- 1/2 cup sliced ripe olives
- Chips or celery for dipping
In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the bean dip and taco seasoning mix until well blended. Spread the mixture in the bottom of a glass pie plate. Sprinkle the green onions over the bean dip mixture. Stir the sour cream into the mayonnaise until blended; spread over the onions. Top with the ripe olive slices. Cover and chill. Serve with corn chips, tortilla chips, or celery.
- 1 pkg (1-oz) taco seasoning mix
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 8-oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cans (14-oz each) artichoke hearts, drained
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 2-quart casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, combine the taco seasoning mix with the mayonnaise and cream cheese. Add the artichoke hearts, half of the green onions and the cheese; mix well.
