- 2 good baking apples
- 1/3 c. chilled butter
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. oatmeal — NOT INSTANT
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Slice each of the apples into 2 halves and, using a melon baller or similar implement, remove the cores so that there are indents in the center of each apple half. Set the apples with the cut side up inside a baking dish or pie plate.
Combine the remaining ingredients (butter through cinnamon) in a small resealable bag. Seal the bag; press and pinch the mixture until coarse crumbs form. Using your fingers, press a quarter of the mixture into each of the indents on your apples. The mixture should fill the indents and cover most of the top of the apples.
Bake the apples in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or until the top is bubbly and the apples are soft enough to poke easily with a fork. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
