I've always been a bit of a scientist at heart. I know, I know. I'm spending a lot of my day thinking about food, preparing food, photographing food, and writing about food. But anyone who has spent some time in the kitchen knows a lab coat is just about as appropriate as an apron when you're working outside the recipe card! And, when you understand the science behind what's going on, making new recipes is a great and tasty adventure!
So please take a bit less than 5 minutes out of your day to enjoy the following clip from the fine folks at TED. It shares some fun insights about baking chemistry, food safety, and using your nose to help you figure out when those cookies are ready to enjoy. If you enjoy the short clip, TED-Ed has extended clips and lessons available for your entertainment and education.
Happy kitchen sciencing!
