A lot of Seasoned Cooking followers have gardens or get involved in tending gardens with others. It's great that so many of us have regular access to ultra fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. Since that's the case, this month we're asking you about what's in the garden and what really makes you swoon. If you don't have access to a garden, feel free to share your wish list. It's good to have dreams!
I'll begin. I have several little garden plots in my backyard. My herb garden tends to run amok, but I enjoy it anyway and it's rather amusing when my corgi comes in from the backyard smelling of mint. I'm very sentimental about the rhubarb and bleeding hearts growing near the bird bath in another little plot nearby. Both are originally from my grandmother's farm and every time I make a rhubarb pie, I get a little wistful for days gone by. But I think my favorite garden find can be found in my tomato garden by the deck. At least a half dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes grow there and, when in season, it's wonderful to be able to just grab a handful of cherry tomatoes when I'm out in the backyard.
