For the purpose of this review, the Braun Multiquick MR430HC Deluxe Hand Blender and Food Chopper was tested.
The box includes Braun's handheld motor that powers all of the attachments and three attachments:
- the stickblender attachment for blending soups and the like,
- the whisk attachment for whisking eggs and the like, and
- the food chopper attachment for chopping vegetables, nuts and the like.
Also included in the box are a bracket for mounting the appliance to the wall, a beaker for blending drinks and the like, a lid for the beaker and a brief user manual.
The blender comes with a standard 1-year warranty.
The ProsThis handy appliance brings to your kitchen some serious space and time-saving. Simply immerse the 7-1/2-inch blender shaft, with its little blade on the end, into a pot where vegetables have been simmering, press the switch, and in seconds a creamy soup appears -- with no need to dump everything into a big blender. Whipped cream or frothy egg whites are an easy task when the whisk attachment is used. Even chopping nuts or garlic becomes a breeze when the 2-cup chopper bowl is attached to the motor.
What's more, you can easily attach the motor and blender attachment (likely to be among the most used attachments) to a kitchen wall, making the appliance easy to retrieve for use and even easier to store when not in use. With smoothies, dips, chopped nuts and whipped egg whites all so frequently finding their way into the kitchen, this handy tool is likely to find some coveted space in your kitchen.
The ConsWhile being able to cream hot soups while still in the pot is highly efficient, it can also be dangerous. I highly recommend holding a lid over the top of the pot while operating the hand blender near the edge. Otherwise, hot liquid is very likely to come spurting out of the top of the pot. As you get more used to operating the appliance this might be less necessary, but safety measures should always be taken. This is a simple device, but it can certainly be dangerous if precautions are not taken.
It's a good thing it's a simple device too. The user manual is poorly written and illustrated instructions are difficult to follow.
