Thanksgiving is finally upon us once again. One of the side dishes that members of my family always serve with the turkey is green beans. How they are prepared depends on who is making them, but the following is a recipe that my mother always used. This recipe is a good one that is sure to please all of your guests, green bean casserole. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.

Green Bean Casserole

  • 2 pounds green beans -- ends trimmed, sliced or French cut
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 can French fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Mix the condensed soup, milk, salt and pepper in a casserole dish. Add the green beans and half of the onions. Mix well and bake in an oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Stir the mixture and top with the remaining half can of onions. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until the onions on top are a crunchy golden brown. Serve hot.

Note: Bacon lovers can add a couple of crispy crumbled bacon to the bean mixture before baking.
